Patton and Kelly/Wild Irish

If you believe in providing the very best in entertainment and an evening when your audience will be shouting for more, then you will certainly be interested in Brian Patton & Pete Kelly ~ one of the finest and most exciting Irish duos in the country.

Brian Patton was born in Ballyshannon in Donnegal, and learned his craft from some of the finest fiddle players in Ireland during his early years. He is without doubt, one of the “greats” in his field. In one moment his audience will be stunned by his breathtaking delivery of the classic Irish reel and will then be swiftly transported to the lush green hills and valleys of Ireland with a haunting air or ballad.

Pete Kelly, singer/songwriter, began his career in the 1980’s and was looked upon as a breath of fresh air on the Midlands music scene. His fine voice and guitar work set him apart from fellow musicians in his field. His chance meeting with Brian moved his career in a new direction, creating something special and magical.

The duo has appeared with such artistes as The Fureys, Paddy Reilly, Brendan Grace, The Bachelors and even the pop group, Bad Manners! Chosen as ambassadors for Irish music, they appeared on Harry Secombe’s “Highway”, filmed at Coventry Cathedral.

“For me, Patton & Kelly were Saturday’s sensation. Toes were tapping, hands were clapping and I wouldn’t have been surprised if I’d seen dancing on the tables, such was the energy and excitement this duo created”.

“Foot-tapping fun and good with it. A wild Irish Duo with the energy of a whole band between them. Some fearsome fiddle and great guitar work made you want a pint of Guinness and a jig”.

Patton & Kelly are also available as Wild Irish – 3 piece Irish showband:

Wild Irish thrills audiences with a superb and exciting presentation of traditional and contemporary Irish music. The band features the legendary fiddle playing of Donegal’s Brian Patton, the fine voice and driving guitar work of Pete Kelly. To complete this fine line up, the band now boasts the services of the talented Simon Hayward on the bass guitar.

Working as a duo (Patton and Kelly), Brian and Pete developed a reputation as an act could entertain at the highest levels of the music industry and provided an evening to suit audiences of all ages. They worked with some of the greats of Irish music including Paddy Reilly and the Fureys and The Davy Arthur Band. There was even a evening supporting Ska legends Bad Manners which had the whole audience leaping around the concert arena in Croyden.

The inclusion of Simon Hayward on bass during 2002, has given the band even more scope to develop as the premier Irish band in the Midlands. Simon’s background includes delta blues, country, rock, folk, sixties and of course Irish music. He is a true believer in keeping music live and has demonstrated his talent as a songwriter with one of his songs “White Lady” in 1998 receiving international airplay on many radio stations including Derek Jameson’s radio 2 show.

The band is the perfect choice for those occasions when something special is required. Wedding guests will find themselves rocking and reeling to a wide range of music all played in the band’s own memorable style. The band plays a selection of music ranging from Foster and Allen right through to the Pogues and Sawdoctors. To ensure all audiences are catered for, rock n roll standards, country and pop covers can also be included.
